Klopp’s Last Huzzah at Liverpool on Thin Ice
Jurgen Klopp’s final tenure at Liverpool is at risk of fading out on a low note due to his men’s faltering form in recent weeks.
The Reds suffered a shocking 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Atalanta BC during the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals last week, leaving them with an arduous task when they take on the Italian side again tonight, Thursday 18 April, for the second leg.
As the current English Premier League (EPL) season comes to an end, the 56-year-old German tactician has been keen for a glorious send-off.
In the past three weeks, two EPL matches knocked them off the top spot: a 2-2 draw with Manchester United and an unbelievable 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace. Manchester City are in the lead with 73 points, while Arsenal and Liverpool share second place with 71 points each.
The dream of winning a quadruple – four trophies in a single campaign – is fading, but if there’s anything that Klopp’s team has proven all season, it is that they are the masters of mindset.
